Супрун развеяла миф об алкоголе

The highest values of the average alcohol consumption among women was noted in Ukraine – 4.2 doses a day

Regardless of the amount, alcohol consumption leads to loss of health and life. Alcohol is the main cause of death and disability.

Acting Minister of health Suprun on his page in Facebook has dispelled the myth of a safe alcohol dose. According to her, recently one of the most respected medical journal The Lancet published the results of a study of the effect of alcohol on human health scientists of the international collaboration Global Burden of Diseases.

“Regardless of the amount, alcohol consumption leads to loss of health and life,” said Suprun.

She said that scientists have conducted extensive research: analyzed data from 1990 to 2016, from 195 countries and territories, for people aged 15 to 95 years. The study covered 28 million people.

“Alcohol is the main cause of death and disability for people aged 15-49 years, and the seventh cause for all age groups in the world,” said Suprun.

According to her, the main causes of mortality triggered by alcohol include cardiovascular diseases, different cancers (breast, liver, intestine), liver cirrhosis, infectious disease, accident, injury.

The highest values of the average alcohol consumption among women was noted in Ukraine – 4.2 dose per day (1 dose is 10 grams of ethanol) among men in Romania was 8.2 dose, the Ukrainian men – the fifth place and 7.0 dose per day respectively.

“The results of the study contradict many of the recommendations regarding health benefits of alcohol consumption in moderation. What is minimum alcohol consumption slightly reduces the incidence of coronary heart disease, it does not cover damage from other diseases in the long term. That is, all possible positive effects that contains alcohol, in the end, due to its harmful properties,” said Suprun.

Remember, China is the country with the world’s highest death rate from alcohol abuse.
