Telescope to search for exoplanets has sent the first photo

Телескоп для поиска экзопланет прислал первое фото

The photo shows more than 200 thousand stars. In the centre of the test picture TESS with two-second exposure of the constellation Centaurus.

TESS space telescope, launched in April, sent to Earth the first test shot with one of the four camera apparatus according to the NASA website.

The photo shows more than 200 thousand stars. In the centre of the test picture TESS with two-second exposure of the constellation Centaurus, in the top right of the visible edge of the nebula the Coal Sack, and the bottom left is clearly visible the bright star Hadar, the eleventh of brightness in the night sky, writes N+1.

NASA representatives say that this is still a rough test shot and the first image in high quality with TESS will be published in June.

TESS has four telescope with matrices a resolution of 16.8 megapixels, operating in the spectral range from 600 to 1000 nanometers.

Each of these telescopes has a field of view of 24 by 24 degrees, and they are directed in such a way that together form a single field of view in the form of an elongated strip.

Once in 27 days, the telescope will change the surveillance area and two main mission will create a map that covers 85 percent of the celestial sphere.
