Telethon in Lithuania has collected €83 thousand for Ukraine

The money that the Lithuanians were sent during the TV broadcast, will go to the Eastern regions of Ukraine suffered from the Russian aggression.

In Lithuania on Saturday, January 13, on channel of the Lithuanian national radio and television LRT has passed a charitable marathon in support of Ukraine Together to the victory. During the live broadcast, viewers have sent about 82,7 thousand euros, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

The organizers of the telethon was organized by international volunteer organization Blue/Yellow and the Lithuanian national radio and television.

It is noted that the event was dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the day of defenders of freedom – the tragic events in Vilnius on 13 January 1991, its purpose is to raise funds as humanitarian aid for the needs of the Eastern regions of Ukraine suffered from the Russian aggression.

The telethon was attended by Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers from the East of Ukraine, a group of children from the Eastern regions who are studying at Vilnius house of Lithuanian, Chairman of the volunteer organization Blue/Yellow Jonas Ohman, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Lithuania Vladimir Yatsenkivskyi, heads of diplomatic missions of Georgia, Latvia and Estonia accredited in Lithuania, the assets of Ukrainian community of Lithuania, Lithuanian society, etc.

“Only during the live charity telethon viewers have sent about 82 thousand 700 euros where the beneficiary – organisation Blue/Yellow providing assistance for victims of Russian aggression on the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, the Ukrainian military, their families, children who lost parents and suffering from the military actions in these areas Ukraine urban communities”, – stated in the message.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin expressed gratitude to Lithuania for support.

“Big thanks to Lithuania for friendly support and assistance to Ukraine”, – he wrote in the microblog in Twitter on Monday.

Earlier in Lithuania doubled the number of migrant workers from Ukraine.

As reported, Lithuania has made the list of banned Russians on the “Magnitsky act”.
