The activities of the “Railways” may have a negative impact on GDP dynamics.

Деятельность "Укрзализныци" может негативно отразиться на динамике ВВП, - СМИ

“Ukrzaliznytsya” complains of the reduction of transportation and with the hard does not allow metallurgical companies to increase the volume, thus the state monopoly may become a brake on the development of the Ukrainian economy, writes the edition “Business Capital” in the article “Reform screen: why the railroad does not want to earn”.

Problems with transportation of metallurgical cargoes remain relevant, which may again have a negative impact on GDP growth, write the authors of the material indicating that “the Leaders of the railway monopolist, rather than to bottlenecks to their problem and stretches every day to work hard on the stabilization of freight transportation, especially in the area of the ATO, update the official site, create an international carrier in the “Ukrzaliznytsia” and the compliance office involved in “identification and control of risks in line with business practices”, implement SAP, and even create their own media holding. In this case the monopolist does not forget to periodically trigger the increase of tariffs for rail transportation (since April 30, another 15%) and sincerely wondering why its falling revenues in this area. Thus, in the first half of this year revenue of “Ukrzaliznytsia” in the sphere of freight traffic fell nearly 7% in comparison with the first half of 2015, accounting for about 25.6 billion UAH. The reason is very simple – the General decline of the company’s turnover in January-June 2016 amounted to 6,4%, including the transit traffic, and uprooted more than a third”.

According to the newspaper, the world knows many examples when the development of railway transport has become a driver of growth for the whole economy.

However, Ukraine is a different situation: “the Arrival “Ukrzaliznitsyu” new management, headed by Wojciech Balchunas did not improve the situation. In fact, the systematic deterioration on all fronts: transportation volume metallurgical cargoes is reduced, the cars due to the significantly increased turnaround time is not enough” – summarizes the author.
