Vice Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine announced the increase of the role of women in politics and business.

In Ukraine, one of the “most feminine” countries, women account for 55% of the population. This was announced by Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze during a meeting with the Club of business women in Chernivtsi, UNN on Friday, March 29.

She noted that women’s representation in Parliament is 12%.

“A notable positive trend in the government, which now has five women. At the local level in village councils 51% of members were women,” said klympush-Tsintsadze.

Vice Prime Minister added that today there is a rapid increase in the role of women in politics and business, there are a growing number of women entrepreneurs.

“About 40% of Ukrainian women entrepreneurs, and among small businesses – half. Significantly fewer women among the heads of companies and enterprises, only 30%, but the dynamics is positive here: more and more companies trust women leadership. Women constitute the majority in public organizations”, – skatalities-Tsintsadze.

The official also gave examples of wages among men and women in several countries of the world. The average salary of men in Ukraine exceeds the salary of women is 24.4%. According to Eurostat, in the EU men in senior positions are paid more than women. The largest difference in Hungary (33.7 per cent), Italy (33,5%), Czech Republic (29,7%), Slovakia (28.3 per cent), Poland (27.7 per cent), Austria (26,9%), Germany (26,8%) and Portugal 25.9 per cent).

Earlier it became known that Ukraine has 40% of millionaires were women.

It was also reported that women in Ukraine earn significantly less than men.
