Ukraine as of October 25, harvested nearly 50 million tons of grain and leguminous crops.

The Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine said the previous forecast of grain harvest in 2017 at 62 million tons.

“Corn and wheat form the overall 80% gross yield, so this figure was crucial for generalizing prediction. At the end of the result, although lower than last year was better than previous expectations, primarily because of the influence of weather conditions was uneven,” cited in the message of Ministry of agrarian policy first Deputy Minister Maxim Martyniuk.

Ukraine as of October 25, 2017 threshed 49.8 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops from an area of 12.5 million ha, or 85% of the forecast, with an average yield of 39.9 kg/ha.

Corn harvested 11.7 million tons from an area of 2.5 million hectares, or 55% of the forecast, sunflower – 10.8 million tons with the area of 5.5 million hectares, or 93% of the forecast, soybeans – 3 million tons with an area of 1.6 million hectares, or 81% of the forecast, sugar beet collected 9.3 million tonnes from 213 thousand ha, or 67% of the forecast.

The Ministry of agrarian policy forecasted grain harvest in the country in 2017 at the level of 60.2 to 63 million tons.
