The result of a hacker attack on the Internet giant Yahoo in 2013 were stolen personal data of all the 3 billion users registered on the services of this company. About it reported in a press release, a subsidiary of Verizon – Oath, which owns Yahoo.

Earlier in the Internet company believed that the hacking has affected about 1 billion accounts. But the investigation revealed that the scope of hacker attacks was much greater.

In 2016, the company Yahoo announced two massive theft of data of its users. In addition to the cyber attacks in August 2013, the company recorded another similar episode: in late 2014, hackers broke into at least 500 million accounts of Yahoo.

In both cases, the attackers were able to access names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth and other information. The hackers were also able to get to encrypted and unencrypted test questions and answers that are used when recovering a forgotten password.

Guide Yahoo believed that both attacks are organized by the same persons by order of an unnamed country.

In March of this year, the U.S. justice Department filed against two employees of the FSB allegations of cyber attack on Yahoo in 2014.
