В ЕС назвали условия, в которых можно обсудить перспективу членства Украины

In the European Parliament believe that to talk about the prospect of Ukraine’s membership in the EU need to successfully carry out reforms.

In the case of the successful reforms in Ukraine, the EU will agree to reconsider its relations with Kiev, in particular, to discuss the prospect of membership. This was stated by the co-chair of the Parliamentary Committee of the Association Ukraine-EU MEP from Poland Witold Waszczykowski in an interview European truth Wednesday, November 13.

Waszczykowski said that now Ukraine is actively promoting the initiative differentiation of the Eastern partnership format, highlighting countries that have signed the Association agreement and who have the desire to gain membership in the EU. However, he said, while the EU is not able to create a unified approach to the Ukrainian and many other issues.

“Unfortunately, the situation is unfavorable. We see that Germany, which had been the locomotive of the EU foreign policy actually withdrew… macron is trying to find a solution to the crisis in their own state, which is often contrary to the interests of the EU. In Italy – its problems, Spain is busy with the Catalan problem, and so forth,” – said Waszczykowski.

Answering the question of when the EU may return to a constructive consideration of the initiative on the individual format, Waszczykowski said that “it will depend on Ukraine”.

“The President Zelensky gave a lot of promises before the election. There is a new government, the Verkhovna Rada took the “turbo” to adopt promised legislation. The Ukrainians in this case great expectations – people expect that their lives will soon improve. And usually after a year people start to knock on to power and to ask where the fulfilment of such promises,” he said.

“Therefore, the EU would like to wait this year and see what has been done and how has the support of the Ukrainian President,” concluded Waszczykowski.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Dmitry Kuleba said that Ukraine will join NATO before the European Union.
