The EU plans to provide Ukraine with about 6 million Euro on a new project to reform the police, the press service of the interior Ministry.

“The interior Ministry and the EU will launch a new project on police reform. The expected amount of aid will be about six million euros. The project will consist of two parts: the first is the concept of community policing (police interaction with society). The second part is сrowd control (public order)”, — stated in the message.

“We are ready to implement these ideas, ready to represent our team in this work. The main partner is the police of Sweden, it will also involve experts from Denmark,” – said the Chairman of the Advisory mission of the European Union kęstutis”.

According to the head of the MIA of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the project is expected to provide more effective police work and to increase the level of public confidence in the police.

“We plan to begin this work in three regions: Kyiv, Lviv and Kharkiv. I am interested to pilot projects was the most successful. We make systematic steps for us these questions are fundamental,” — said Avakov.

He added that in parallel to these pilot regions will be the reform of the police and the system of detention of criminals.

The planned creation of a special police unit, whose activities will be based on the principle of de-escalation of tension during events.

“It will be a new demilitarization police force to ensure public order,” — said Avakov.
