Ukraine may appoint LDNR elections no later than June, otherwise the Minsk process will cease to exist.

Minsk agreement can be terminated in the fall of 2017. So says Victor Levitsky, Director of the Ukrainian Institute of global strategies of development and adaptation (WESGRO).

As stated in a press release in October expires “Temporary order of local government” in the uncontrolled territory of Donbass, which was adopted by Ukraine after the signing of the Minsk-1 in 2014.

“Thus, the last term of appointment there (in ORDO – ed.) legitimate elections under Ukrainian law – June 16, three months before their conduct. Since neither the government nor the expert community does not seek to solve it, hope for the return of ngca is fading away,” said Levitsky.

At the same time, the expert believes, the modalities of such elections will coordinate at least in the format of channel four, which will be another factor delaying the process.

“If elections are not appointed in time, the law On temporary order of local government in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, and with it the whole Minsk process will sink into Oblivion,” said Levitsky.
