Эксперт оценил потерю рынка ЕС для украинских производителей курятины

Ukraine is losing millions because of the ban on chicken export to the EU

Temporary loss of EU market will cost domestic producers of chicken in an average of 14.5 million euros per month.

Losses of Ukrainian exporters of poultry from the closure of the EU market will be around 14.5 million euros a month. This was said by an analyst of the Ukrainian club of agrarian business (UCAB) Andriy Martynenko, reports UNN on Saturday, January 25.

It is noted that his calculations are supported by the export performance of domestic poultry in the EU. For 11 months of 2019, it amounted to 159,6 million Euro, accounting for 33% of the total.

“Based on the figures of the previous year might suggest that the temporary loss of the EU market will cost domestic manufacturers averaged 14.5 million euros per month”, – said Martynenko.

According to him, the EU is an important trade partner for Ukraine. For 11 months of the year 2019, the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU amounted to $7.2 billion, representing 36% of the total export of Ukrainian agricultural products.

Earlier this week it became known that the EU has suspended import of poultry meat from Ukraine. This workaround is due to the avian influenza outbreak in Vinnytsia region. The state foods and consumer service called the EU decision “a stunningly unexpected”.

Recall, Ukraine entered the top-5 exporters of chicken meat in the world. Ukrainian farmers are just ahead of the European Union, Brazil and Thailand.
