The Ministry acknowledged that the members are already unhappy with the draft budget.

The Finance Ministry expects heavy discussions in the Parliament concerning the draft state budget for 2018, said Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko in an interview with the Reporter.

“We have just begun the dialogue with the Parliament. Was the presentation of the project at the budget Committee — the members are already unhappy. I was told that just this year we have not trimmed. Deputies are now become smarter and better versed in the details of the budget process [laughs],” said Marchenko.

According to him, the Ministry of Finance goes through the budget process with “minimal losses”. However, he found it difficult to answer the question will the deputies to the state budget changes associated with the upcoming elections.

“For the deputies is not so important the balance of how specific expenditure items and priorities. The amendments to the budget will be clearly traced. And someone will be trivial to bring down a budget in the millions of social-popular amendment,” – said the Deputy Minister.

Recall that the Verkhovna Rada Committee on budget approved the tentative timetable for the consideration of the draft law on the state budget for 2018. The adoption of the draft budget as a whole as the law is scheduled for the plenary session not later than 1 December.
