A new 14-month stand-by program for $3.9 billion, of which Ukraine has agreed with the IMF will help Ukraine to continue to implement its fiscal and monetary policies. So says acting Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova what she said on Friday, October 19, in your Facebook.
According to her, this program lays the Foundation for cooperation extending beyond presidential and parliamentary elections in 2019.
“The good news for us is recognition of our progress in macroeconomic stabilization and reforms is the ability to provide stability in a politically turbulent 2019, and the confirmation of the faith of our partners in Ukraine”, – commented on the message Markarova IMF staff level agreement.
In her opinion, the agreement stand-by arrangement will be sufficient support for Ukraine as the country continues with structural reforms.
“The continuation of cooperation with the IMF will allow the government to obtain financing on very attractive terms and increase foreign exchange reserves, which now amount to $18 billion,” he added Markarova.
She confirmed that the final approval from the IMF Board of Directors is expected after adoption by the Verkhovna Rada a balanced and realistic budget for 2019 in the second reading.
“Markers for the IMF is our willingness to be fiscally responsible and to keep the budget deficit under control,” – said the head of the Ministry of Finance.
