The radiation background in Kiev is three times below the safe level, said the head of the state service of Ukraine for emergency situations.

The radiation background in Kiev, Chernobyl and the ChNPP industrial site is normal. On Tuesday, June 5, according to the head of the state service of Ukraine for emergency situations Nikolai Chechetkin.

It is noted that in Kiev the background radiation is 10 Mr/h (safe levels up to 30 µr/h). In the town of Chernobyl, background radiation is 24.1 Mr/HR (the safe level of 50 µr/h). At the industrial site of Chernobyl NPP radiation amounts to 50.7 µr/h (safe level – up to 140 mcR/h).

Chechetkin added that as of 18:00 the aircraft carried out 10 water discharge (41,5 tons). Also to extinguish the fire at Chernobyl brought to 29 units and 126 people.
