The French Ministry of foreign Affairs took note of the resolution of the National Assembly (the lower house of Parliament) on sanctions against Russia and reminded about the Minsk agreement. This statement was made during today’s briefing, the speaker of the Ministry, the Embassy of Ukraine in France on his page in Facebook.

“The government recognizes the responsibility of France, as a member of the European Union and member of the “Norman” format. European Union sanctions remain associated with the implementation of the Minsk agreements. During the future consideration of the question how to update them, you must have this in mind. It is important in this matter to preserve the European unity – the key to our effectiveness,” said the speaker.

We will remind, deputies of the lower house of the French Parliament on Thursday adopted the opposition proposed a resolution which urged the government to oppose the extension of European sanctions against the Russian Federation.

In the vote was attended by 98 members of the lower chamber, their vote “for” gave 55 people with the required 50.

The resolution is a recommendation and does not oblige the authorities to take concrete action.
