The head of the Ministry of justice listed the successes in the fight against corruption in Ukraine

Глава Минюста перечислил успехи в сфере борьбы с коррупцией в Украине

The Minister of justice of Ukraine Pavel Petrenko was named one of the successes in the fight against corruption establishment of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies who have no political dependence on the authorities. The head of the Ministry of justice stated during the parliamentary hearings “the State of implementation of the framework of anti-corruption policy in Ukraine”, which was broadcast channel “112 Ukraine”.

“I believe that the first positive success was the fact that Ukraine has become a reality the existence of politically independent from any institutions of government and law enforcement agencies, which have their own competence – the fight against corruption. And this is our common achievement that we found the political will in this chamber to vote for such laws and to implement them”, – said Petrenko.

According to the Minister, the second success is the decision on the introduction of monitoring the life of officials and the system of electronic Declaration.

“Today this process is in the stage of implementation, but already, through the law on lustration, which was adopted when all the declarations of civil servants in paper form were made public and when the public saw with astonishment the Declaration of the judges and prosecutors that have always been untouchable, with information about gifts for millions of UAH, about the business of their relatives, it was the first step. The second step was that we created an independent body for prevention of corruption, and we have high hopes that this body will do to monitor the life of each employee, be it the President or the Chairman of the district state administration”, – said the head of the Ministry of justice.

Another achievement in the field of fight against corruption Petrenko called the adoption of the law on financing of political parties by the state.

“The corruption began, unfortunately, in politics, it is also necessary to recognize. For 20 years political parties, politicians who voiced various slogans, never told the truth: who bankrolls the party who finances the activities, due to which this party exists. When the Ukrainian people that we have very good and trusting, at the first stage gave votes for the party, then it turns out that, once in this room, the party began to lobby for the interests of certain oligarchs”, – said the Minister.

At the same time, Petrenko said the necessity of complete functioning of the system of electronic Declaration.

“The DOJ opened the property registry, business registry and gave full access to all citizens to this information. But it’s not enough until you have entered a complete system of electronic Declaration. It is our common duty to make this year the civil servants occupying the highest levels, passed their Declaration in electronic form so that they become public, and to synchronize information with the registries. Then we can say that the control of state employees actually earned”, – said the head of the Ministry of justice.

We will remind, the law on electronic declarations entered into force on 18 March 2016.
