Healthcare reform does not provide for the introduction of payment for childbirth from women. The state will cover 100% of the cost of these services.

After the introduction of medical reform, the monitoring of pregnancy and childbirth will remain in the list of free patient services. On Wednesday, March 21, the press service of the Ministry of health.

The Ministry of health reported that it is envisaged by the law On state financial guarantees of public medical care.

“Delivery and pregnancy follow-up will be free for the patient after implementation of reforms. The state will cover 100% of the cost of these services. Healthcare reform does not provide for the introduction of payment for childbirth from mothers,” – said in the message.

In particular, the law States:

“In the framework of medical guarantees, the state guarantees citizens, foreigners, persons without citizenship, permanently residing on the territory of Ukraine, and persons who are recognized refugees or persons in need of complementary protection, full payment for the expense of the State budget of Ukraine needed medical services and medicines, providing:

1) emergency medical care;

2) primary health care;

3) secondary (specialized) medical care;

4) tertiary (highly specialized) medical care;

5) palliative care;

6) medical rehabilitation;

7) medical care for children up to 16 years;

8) medical care in connection with pregnancy and childbirth”.

The Ministry noted that health reform provides for the transition to the new funding model of the government medical service available to the Ukrainians. In particular, hospitals or hospitals in 2020 will begin to receive state payment for services rendered to specific patients.

Recall, 30 January 2018, and entered into force the law on medifarma. The first steps in the Ministry called the creation of the National health service of Ukraine – a national insurer, which will enter into contracts with health institutions and purchase of services for the health care of the population.

As reported, 19 October 2017, the Verkhovna Rada approved in the second reading the draft law On the state financial guarantees for providing medical services and medicines.
