Hungarian MPs refused to meet with Ukrainian colleagues.

Hungarian parliamentarians refused to meet with the delegation of the Verkhovna Rada, on which the Ukrainian side wanted to discuss the provisions of the education act. On Monday, October 2, said the first Vice-speaker of the Parliament Irina Gerashchenko, reports UKRINFORM.

According to her, last week the delegation of the Parliament was in Budapest, organized by the Council of Europe forum on the Istanbul Convention.

“The Ukrainian side offered to meet with the deputies of the Hungarian Parliament to discuss the question of the law. Unfortunately, our colleagues refused such a meeting,” – said Gerashchenko.

At the same time, the first Vice-speaker urges MPs all available means to explain to the representatives of other States the provisions of the act.

Recall that In Ukraine on September 28 came into force the education act, which provides for 12 years of education in the school and enhancing the role of the Ukrainian language.

In this regard, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Hungary stated that they will block the rapprochement between Ukraine and the EU because of the law on education.
