In three regions of Ukraine will launch a new project on police reform. This was announced by the Chairman of the Advisory mission of the EU (CMEs) Kestutis ” during a meeting with interior Minister Arsen Avakov, reports the press service of the Ministry.

The project will consist of two parts: the first is the concept of community policing (police interaction with society), the second – сrowd control (public order).

“The main partner, the police of Sweden, it will also involve experts from Denmark,” – said”.

According to Avakov, the successful implementation of the project will not only provide a more effective operation of the police, but will also increase the level of public confidence. “We plan to begin this work in three regions: Kyiv, Lviv and Kharkiv”, – said the Minister.

He added that in parallel to these pilot regions will be the reform of the police and systems of police custody.

According to the Minister, under the direction of сrowd control plan to create a special police unit, whose activities will be based on the principle of de-escalation of tension during events. “This is a new demilitarizovana police force to ensure public order,” – said Avakov.

According to him, this will take into account the successful experience of Swedish colleagues who carry out the assessment of the risks of the negotiations, using the so-called “dialogue police”, and only then in proportion to applied force.

We will remind, earlier the head of national police Khatia Dekanoidze said that the completion of reforms, Ministry of interior still needs 200 million dollars.
