From the foreign Ministry demanded an explanation after the statements of the Minister of internal Affairs of Italy about the “legality” of the annexation of the Peninsula.

Italy does not recognize the annexation of Crimea by Russia and adheres to the sanctions policy of the European Union. This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Italy, Enzo Milanesi Moavero at the meeting of Parliament, said on Wednesday, July 25, Ansa.

“The government believes that the rules of international law must always be respected. Italy did not recognize regional authorities, appointed in March 2014 following sanctions in accordance with the EU”, – said the Minister.

Milanesi answered questions of MP Laura Boldrini regarding the statements of the interior Minister Matteo Salvini, who defended the legitimacy of Russia’s conduction of a referendum in Crimea after the annexation of the Peninsula.

We will remind, the interior Minister of Italy and leader of the nationalist party, the League of Matteo Salvini said that Russia had the right to Annex the Crimea and Maidan is a pseudo.

As reported, on 5 June, Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte called for the revision of sanctions against Russia, as they “humiliated the Russian civil society”.
