Hungarian diplomats said that you hope the newly elected President of Ukraine in addressing the “problematic issues”.
The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Hungary on Thursday, may 16, issued a statement after the signing by President Petro Poroshenko “language law”, reports Radio Liberty.
It is noted that Hungarian diplomats have called the law “consistent with the spirit of Petro Poroshenko”, and expressed hope that the newly elected President Vladimir Zelensky will be able to solve “issues” regarding the Hungarian minorities in Ukraine.
“We are interested in restoring the balanced and friendly relations between Hungary and Ukraine, and hope that the newly elected President will be open to this”, − said in a statement.
The Ministry recalled that the language law “oppresses the rights of national minorities, because it takes away the previously granted right to use their native language.”
Recall, may 15, President Petro Poroshenko signed the law On ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian as the state language.
The head of state stressed that the law does not curtail the rights of foreign citizens and urged the new government to support it.
