Eight of the foreign Ministers of European countries will not allow the subject of the annexed Crimea to disappear from the international agenda.

The foreign Ministers of Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Sweden and Ukraine addressed a joint statement in connection with the fourth anniversary of the annexation of Crimea by Russia.

In the text published on the website of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine, noted that “the EU does not recognize results of elections, which are held by Russia in the Crimea.”

The foreign Ministers of eight countries assured that will not allow the Crimea to disappear from the international agenda. “Continues the illegal annexation, will continue the restrictive measures and sanctions,” the statement says.

The authors note that the occupation of the Crimea increases risks to security in the black sea region, but its consequences go far beyond the region.

“With the current Russian aggression in the Donbas, it is also a violation of the European security order, the rules and principles that served as the basis of stability and security in Europe since the end of the cold war”, – the document says.

The foreign Ministers of the eight countries also called for the release of Ukrainian Director Oleg Sentsov and more than 60 other political prisoners.

In addition, they said, in Crimea should be granted access to the international monitoring organizations.

The foreign Minister stressed that what happened in Crimea, “concerns not only Ukraine, but all of us”.

“That’s why we will not forget and will not leave the Crimea”, – the statement says.

Recall, Ukraine has questioned the legitimacy of presidential elections in the Russian Federation in connection with the annexation of Crimea. The results of the vote on the Peninsula will be null and void from a legal point of view, and will have no legal consequences, according to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
