NBU will issue coins with the image of the Crimea

The coin depicts famous places of the Peninsula – the Khan’s Palace in Bakhchisarai, Bear mountain, gazebo in the Chersonese, and the ancient amphora and the ancient ship.

National Bank on Wednesday, April 25, will release series of commemorative coins with the image of the Crimea. About it reports a press-service of the national Bank.

The circulation is 45 000 pieces, the coin value will be equal to five USD.

On the coin there is a composition symbolizing the Crimea: Bear mountain (Ayu-Dag), on a background of stylized waves – the ancient ship, the Khan’s Palace in Bakhchisaray, the gazebo in the Chersonese, where was the baptism of Prince Vladimir, at the bottom – a bunch of grapes, an amphora, Tatar and antique coins and flowers lavender.

The coin is bimetallic, of base metal.

Recall, the NBU issued new coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 10 hryvnia, which will eventually have to replace the banknote. Also, the regulator has decided to stop minting small coins of denominations 1, 2, 5 and 25 cents.
