Rotterdam+ will operate until mid-summer 2019

The controversial pricing formula for energy will cease to operate next summer.

The national Commission, carrying out state regulation in spheres of power and utilities (NKREKU) on Thursday, August 23, took the decision to abolish the resolution On approval of procedure of formation of the forecast of wholesale prices of electrical energy, better known under the name Rotterdam+. The decision will come into force from the onset of the new electricity market, report Ukrainian news.

As noted, are hereby repealed a number of normative documents that were governing the work of the Ukrainian energy sector – a total of 24 orders. The decision of the national Commission explains the need to streamline the regulatory framework of the activities on the electricity market of Ukraine and to ensure the timely implementation of the law of Ukraine On the electric energy market.

This law provides for the introduction of a new competitive market model that includes a number of segments: bilateral contracts market, the market “day ahead”, vnutricletocny market, balancing market and ancillary services market.

The document introduces the rules of the Third energy package of the EU, including in the share of companies in the areas of distribution and transmission of electricity.

Earlier, the head NKREKU Oksana Krivenko assured that electricity tariffs will be relatively stable until full market launch in July 2019. According to her, until prices for the population will not grow, but after a possible rise in the cost of electricity.

We recall that a year ago the National anti-corruption Bureau started an investigation into the approval formula Rotterdam+ members of the national Commission. According to investigators, the actions of officials led to economically unjustified increase in the price of electricity. But the results of the investigation are still there.
