The NBU has issued commemorative coins dedicated to Crimean Tatars

The coin value is 10 and 5 hryvnia.

The national Bank of Ukraine issued commemorative coins “the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people,” reads the message on the page of rregulator in the social network Facebook.

Coins of silver and Nickel silver in denominations of 10 and 5 respectively hryvnia was introduced into circulation on 12 may.

Wednesday, may 25, in the money Museum of the national Bank held a presentation in which, among others, was attended by people’s deputies of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev and Refat Chubarov, as well as representatives of the NBU, the State service for the Affairs of Crimea and of Sevastopol and the authors sketches of coins.

The obverse of the coin depicts the state emblem of Ukraine, the Crimean Tatar Tamga symbol, and a silhouette of the Crimean Peninsula and the wheels of the train, which symbolize the deportation of 1944.

The reverse of the coin depicts a stylized portrait of a Crimean Tatar family behind barbed wire and the inscription 18/05/1944.

Earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko urged Europe to step up pressure on Russia in connection with systematic violations of the rights of the Crimean Tatars.
