The SBU has apologized for the erroneous information stated in the Sumy diocese.

In the Sumy diocese among the clergy not convicted for separatism. This is stated in the official statement of the Sumy eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church issued its press service.

The statement is published in response to recent media information about the fact that two of the cleric of the Sumy diocese was sentenced for separatism.

“Not one person in the clergy, was not convicted of separatism or of other crimes”, — the document says.

Commenting for the Information Department of the UOC the situation, the Archbishop of Sumy and Okhtyrka evlohiy in particular noted that in the Sumy management of SBU of “apologized for incorrect information.”

“A convict has left the priesthood and sent out of state, so the Sumy diocese cannot be responsible for its activities. As for the other cleric, as reported in the SBU, he is not a clergyman of the Sumy diocese,” the Archbishop stressed.
