Fighting propaganda should not be a disproportionate interference with the media, said the OSCE representative Harlem Desir.

The organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has urged the Ukrainian authorities to abandon the restrictions of the foreign media, expressed his concern about the searches, which the Ukrainian law enforcers held at the offices of RIA Novosti in Kiev. This was stated by the OSCE representative on freedom of the media, Harlem Desir, said on Tuesday, may 15, the press service of the organization.

“I Express my grave concern about this morning’s RAID at the offices of the Russian media in Kiev, the arrests of journalists and the searches of homes of journalists. I again urge the authorities to refrain from imposing unnecessary restrictions on the work of foreign journalists, which affect the free flow of information and freedom of media”, – reads the statement of the Dezir.

According to him, the anti-propaganda should not be a disproportionate interference with the media.

Earlier it was reported that SBU conducted searches in the offices of RIA Novosti-Ukraine. The head of the Agency Kirill Vyshinsky was arrested. The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko later told that the staff of RIA Novosti-Ukraine suspected of treason.

The Russian Embassy in Ukraine sent a protest note to the foreign Ministry, calling on Kiev to abandon the escalation of the situation.
