The DGF expresses the loss of huge amounts of assets of failed banks

The owners of failed banks for four years, withdrew from the financial institutions of property totaling more than 200 billion hryvnias.

During 2014-2017, the owners of failed banks withdrew from the financial institutions of property totaling more than 200 billion hryvnias. This was stated by the Deputy managing Director of the Fund of guaranteeing deposits of physical persons Andrey Olenchyk during the expert discussion on Wednesday, October 10, reports UNN.

“Huge amounts of assets have been lost even before banks came to us. If we evaluate the level of banks ‘losses due to the actions of the so-called related persons – the former top managers and former owners – now from those statements that we gave to law enforcement authorities and we think that proved the fact of such damages, the amount of damages claimed from our side has already exceeded 200 billion UAH”, – said the official.

According to him, the stated aggregate value of assets of insolvent banks is 500 billion, but the estimated cost of these assets amounted to five times less.

Olenchyk also explained part of this “difference” was formed as a result of the economic crisis 2014-2017 and the fall of the hryvnia, but the greatest share was formed as a result of illegal withdrawal of assets of financial institutions.

He also added that after the elimination of 85 banks on the Ukrainian market remains 83 financial institutions.

We will remind, in Ukraine from 2012 to 2017 96 banks were declared bankrupt, 85 of them were eliminated with the subsequent compensation of investors.

It was also reported that the Deposit guarantee Fund of individuals ‘ deposits since October 9 began payments to depositors of bankrupt Melior Bank and Prime Bank.
