The parliamentarians refused to cancel the bill Poroshenko “On the High Council of justice”

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the draft resolution №5180-P “About cancellation of the decision of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine 20.12.2016 informed about acceptance in General as the law of bill No. 5180”. The initiative has not received the required number of votes.

We will remind, on December 21, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading and the whole act No. 5180 “On the High Council of justice”. For this decision voted 271 MP.

Bill No. 5180, which consists of the General and special parts, to regulate the solution of the question of the status of the High Council of justice (CSJ), its powers, procedure of election (appointment) of members of the VSP, their status (rights and duties, guarantees of activity, the order of dismissal and termination of powers), the structure of VSP, as well as procedural matters for the exercise of powers VSP and its organs. In addition, it is proposed to amend a number of legislative acts, in particular concerning the compliance with the legal requirements of GSP, his body or a member regarding the provision of information, the temporary removal of a judge from the administration of justice in connection with the criminal prosecution, the order of detention of the judge or his detention or arrest, the procedure for electing members of Parliament VSP, etc. are proposed law changes designed taking into account the recommendations and conclusions of the Venice Commission and in accordance with European standards, in particular the composition of GSP, subjects and principles of its formation.

As previously reported, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on legal policy and justice at its meeting on Wednesday, November 2, recommended that the Parliament adopt as a basis the draft law №5180 “On the High Council of justice”, submitted by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and defined them as urgent.
