VEB decided to close the business in Ukraine

Vnesheconombank could not sell the Ukrainian “daughter”. The final decision to liquidate the Bank will take in November.

Russian Vnesheconombank (VEB) has refused idea to sell its subsidiary Prominvestbank (PIB) in Ukraine. It is reported by Kommersant, citing sources.

According to the edition, VEB completely broke off relations with the last buyer – the Ukrainian and Russian businessman Paul Fuchs because he failed to agree a deal with the National Bank of Ukraine.

In this regard, the Bank will curtail their business in Ukraine: Prominvestbank stops providing new loans and to attract deposits.

The publication notes that the final decision will be made in November. Experts believe that loss of EBV from shutting down a Ukrainian Bank may be about 13 billion rubles.

Earlier Kommersant reported that Russian state-owned banks started to actively search for the exit from the Ukrainian market. Sberbank, VTB and Vnesheconombank are looking to sell the subsidiary banks in the country

Later it was reported that the Russian VEB has four offers to buy the Ukrainian “daughter”.
