The security service of Ukraine confirmed the information about the ban on entry into Ukraine to the Austrian journalist Christian Versutta for a period of one year. This was reported by press service of the SBU on his page in Facebook on Saturday, March 9.

“The basis for this decision was the need to ensure the safety of journalists”, – stated in the secret service.

The Ministry said that Versatz “he noted in an interview about threats to his life in Ukraine.”

“To avoid possible provocations during the stay Austrian journalist in our country, SBU, in accordance with the legislation, took the decision to ban his entry,” – stated in the message.

Earlier the people’s Deputy from BPP Olga Chervakova said that the SBU has banned the journalist of the TV channel ORF Christian Versutta entry to Ukraine for one year, because in the last four years, he visited the temporarily occupied territory of Donbass and Crimea through the uncontrolled border crossing points with Russia, which violated the procedure of crossing the Ukrainian border.

He Versatz claimed did not violate Ukrainian laws. And the Minister for foreign Affairs of Austria Karin Kneissl condemned Kiev for the entry ban for the journalist.
