One of the two operating power units of nuclear power station is off for repair for two months.

Unit 2 of Khmelnitsky NPP (KhNPP) was disconnected from the grid on 27 August at 10:59 for conducting of medium turnarounds. About it reported in a press-service NAEK Energoatom.

It is noted that the repair work of the unit is scheduled to be completed in 63 days.

“Among the major works: major repair of the second steam generator and main circulation pump, the hydraulic tank of the emergency core cooling (ECCS-2), the first low-pressure cylinder, circulating pump, valves; average repair of the reactor plant, the safety system channels, and control and preventive work at the pre-voltage protective shell”, – stated in the message.

The plans also include work to extend the life of the equipment. During planned maintenance on the second unit of KNPP is scheduled to perform a number of measures to improve security.

The radiation situation at the industrial site of KNPP and the surrounding regions is at the level corresponding to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed natural background values.

Yesterday it was reported that the power unit of Rivne NPP was disconnected from the network, the operation of the automatic protection of the generator.

Also in August, off one unit of Zaporizhzhya NPP for scheduled maintenance.

KhNPP is located in Khmelnytsk region in the city of Netishyn. Within the station operates two units (VVER-1000) with a total capacity of 2000 MW (connected in 1987 and 2004). The main purpose of the station is the deficiency of electric capacity in the Western region of the country.
