Information on the extension of the mandate of the special representative of the US State Department on Affairs Kurt Volker is not true, said the state Department.

The U.S. state Department on Monday, may 14, denied information about the extension of the powers of the special envoy for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, RIA Novosti reported.

It is noted that the functions of the special representative for talks with Ukraine, and its mandate remains unchanged.

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian service of voice of America’s Myroslava Gongadze said, citing sources, that the special envoy of the U.S. state Department on Affairs Kurt Volker continued and expanded the mandate and now he will have “not only the authority on the situation in the Donbas, it will have greater powers in relation to Ukraine itself”.

“We’ve seen these media reports. They are wrong. Ambassador Walker continues to act as special representative for talks with Ukraine, and its mandate remains unchanged,” — said the Agency representative of the state Department.

Recall, recently it became known that the Walker will visit Eastern Ukraine.
