The Swedes suffered heavy losses before the Tour de Ski

Шведы понесли серьезные потери перед Тур де Ски

Calle Halvarsson

Swedish skier Calle Halvarsson and Anna Hogue miss the prestigious race because of health problems.

As reported by the coach of the Swedish cross-country skiing Rikard Grip on the Tour de Ski Tre Kronor will deliver a significantly weakened side. In particular, because of illness will not compete Calle Halvarsson.

“It is obvious that Kalle disappointed, he hoped to the last to speak, but the cold was stronger than him. Our main goal this season – the world championship, so we have to set priorities”, – quotes the DOF Sydsvenskan.

Anna Hogue, too, will not start the Tour de Ski.

“We received a text message from Anna that morning she woke up with a sore throat,” continues Rikard Grip.

It is already known that will replace the Hogue and Halfvarsson in the Swedish team Evelina, Settlin and Anton Lindblad.

The best result Hogue this season is second place in the sprint classic 10 km in Bruksvallarna. Halvarsson, having scored stage victories in Lillehammer and Bruksvallarna and ranked fifth in the overall standings of the world Cup, scoring 316 points.

“We have two athletes who have distinguished themselves in the sprint and distance types. Evelina is a leader in the national Cup, and he spent some excellent racing Cup Scandinavia,” says Grip.

Tour de Ski starts in the Swiss Val Müstair in the New year’s eve, December 31, and will run until 8 January, when will be the last race in Italian Val di Fiemme.
