The UN spoke about the violations of the rights of believers

On Kiev-controlled territory documented cases of attacks on temples of the UOC-MP and the separatists “LDNR” forced religious organizations to register with fixing of personal data of the founders.

Within three months, the Office of the UN high Commissioner for human rights (OHCHR) documented six attacks on temples of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). Were also documented systemic violations of freedom of religion in the territory of “LDNR”.On Thursday, September 20, according to Interfax Ukraine, citing data from the OHCHR.

“For example, on August 5, 2018 in Odessa on the front door of the three temples was written the words “Department of the FSB”. The police opened criminal proceedings on two of these incidents,” the report says the results of the work of the UN monitoring mission on human rights in Ukraine from 16 may to 15 August 2018.

The report also indicates that in the so-called “DNR” and “LNR” procedure mandatory registration of all religious organizations restrict the freedom of religion and belief and concern the safety of parishioners.

So, in the territory of “LNR” February 2, 2018 was adopted by the “law”, which provides six-month period, during which all religious organizations wishing to operate in the territory, were required to register, and failure to register will be deemed the termination of their activities. This period of registration is extended to October 15.

The law requires the submission of personal data of the founders of the organization, for the registration of the organization, it must have at least 20 founders.

“This requirement is for many religious organizations the dual problem. Some members don’t want “the government” knew about their belonging to a certain religious organization. Some are afraid to face problems on the territory controlled by the government, if it becomes known that they are registered in “the Republic”, – the report says.

On the territory controlled “DND”, was also adopted by the “law” on freedom of conscience and religious associations, which requires all religious organizations to March 1, 2019 undergo “registration”.

Also in the report of the OHCHR reported that on 21 June 2018 the so-called “MGB DNR” closed the only working mosque in Donetsk. The room was searched and seized religious literature and two members of the Muslim interrogated and forced to sign a pledge not to leave the territory controlled by “DNR”.

The report of OHCHR on the situation of human rights in Ukraine was prepared on the results of the work of the UN monitoring mission on human rights in the period from 16 may to 15 August 2018. Was conducted 177 in-depth interviews with witnesses and victims of violations and abuses of human rights, as well as during visits to the settlements located on the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine and on the territory controlled by illegal armed groups.
