The state Department is concerned about the critical health condition of the Crimean Tatar.

The U.S. state Department urged Russia to release from a psychiatric clinic Deputy head of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis Ilmi Umerov. This was stated by the representative of the American foreign policy Department John Kirby said on Twitter page of the state Department.

“US concerned about detention of the Crimean Tatar Tatar leader Ilmi Umerov. The Russian government must release him”, – stated in the message.

“We understand that his condition is now critical. He remains in forced psychiatric detention. This tactic hold dissidents in psychiatric wards is alarming. We join the international community and urge the Russian government to release him immediately,” – said Kirby.

Earlier release Umerov has appealed to the International human rights organization Human Rights Watch, OSCE and the European Union.

We will remind, the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis detained in may in Crimea and sent in for questioning. The Prosecutor of the Crimea Natalia Poklonskaya, told that the investigators of the FSB in the Crimea filed against Umerov criminal case under article on extremism.

18 Aug FSB forcibly brought Umerov in clinical psychiatric hospital No. 1 in Simferopol for passing the examination.
