Трамп лишил Турцию торговых льгот

The US President made this decision because the economic development level of Turkey increased significantly.

The President of the United States Donald trump brought the Turkey from the list of developing countries that are subject to trade preferences under the us General system of preferences (GTS). Anadolu reported on Friday, may 17.

It is noted that the head of the White house explained its decision “to increase the level of economic development” of Turkey.

Trump’s decision comes into force from today.

The GTS system has operated since 1974. In 1975, the United States included Turkey in the list of countries benefiting from trade concessions. In the framework of the General system of preferences 4 thousand items 121 countries of the world comes to the American market without paying customs duties.

We will remind, on March 4, Donald trump has notified the U.S. Congress of the intention to deprive Turkey and India trading privileges. According to him, in 45 years of receiving benefits, the Turkish economy has greatly increased and diversified. But India failed to guarantee US equal and affordable access to its market, as provided for in the framework agreements.

As you know, last year, the United States twice raised tariffs on steel and aluminium from Turkey – they amounted to 50% and 20% respectively.

In response, Turkey has sharply increased the duty on goods from USA. So, fees with American alcohol increased by 140%, with car – 120%. Also increased fees for food, cosmetics and other products.
