Turkey refused protective measures against steel products from Ukraine

The Turkish authorities have refused to apply the restrictive measures against Ukrainian steel products.

The Turkish Council for the evaluation of protective measures against imports in a unanimous vote decided to terminate the investigation against Ukrainian steel without the use of restrictive measures, said the Ministry of economic development and trade (MEDT) of Ukraine on the website following the released on Tuesday a message of the Ministry of trade of Turkey.

“It is reported that the Council for the evaluation of protective measures against imports in a unanimous vote decided to terminate the investigation without measures in the absence of growth of imports in absolute terms and relative to domestic production, and in the absence of harm or threats of serious harm to local producers due to rising imports,” said the Ministry.

The document comes into force from the moment of the publication of reports about it, said the Ministry.

Ukraine in the year 2018 to Turkey exported steel products by $59 million In 2017, before the start of the investigation, exports of these products amounted to $270 million, according to the Ministry.

As reported, the EU imposed quotas for 11 types of steel products of Ukraine. The economic development Ministry together with the Ukrainian producers will continue to defend the interests of Ukraine in the framework of the inquiry procedure.
