Donald Tusk, called for continued reform in Ukraine

The EU President said that the best form of respect a shot on the Maidan is the continuation of reforms.

The President of the European Council Donald Tusk, who Monday, February 18, is on a visit to Kiev, said about the importance of continuing reforms in Ukraine. He said this during a meeting with President Poroshenko in Kiev.

“I think the best form of respect that can be given to the victims of the revolution, to do all that you can, in order to continue the reforms, continue your efforts to build a better democratic standards”, – said Tusk, referring to Poroshenko.

He stressed that it is an important visit to Ukraine “to pay tribute” to the Ukrainian people.

Tusk also praised Ukraine’s efforts to carry out effective, according to him, reforms, and noted the personal role of Poroshenko.

“You have very good reasons to feel proud. And it’s not just my personal, private opinion. You know, your reputation, and the reputation of the entire country is very high, not only in Brussels, but in all the capitals of the countries-members of the EU. You deserve this reputation, ” – said Donald Tusk.

In turn, Petro Poroshenko said that for him it is important that reforms in Ukraine showed no naprasnosti victims of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes during the revolution of Dignity.

“For me it is very important that the reforms conducted by our team is now in Ukraine, and the support that we have from the management of the European Union and the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission and the member countries, these reforms showed that the victims of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes was definitely not in vain,” – said Poroshenko.

He stated that he is convinced that the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred gave the country a “last chance for change, for a successful future, and that future, he said, should be in a free European family.

 

 

Recall Donald Tusk on Monday arrived in Ukraine. His visit is timed to the fifth anniversary of the events on the Maidan.

Earlier it was reported that from 18 to 20 February official visit to Ukraine will be the President of the European Council Donald Tusk. During the visit, Tusk will meet with President Petro Poroshenko, Verkhovna Rada Chairman of Andrey Paruby, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman. It is also expected that Tusk will deliver a speech in the Verkhovna Rada and will visit Lviv national University named after Ivan Franko.
