The interior Ministry initiates the creation of a intergovernmental working group to combat organized crime and “thieves in law”.

Ukraine and Georgia agreed on cooperation in the fight against “thieves in law” and drug trafficking. This was discussed at the meeting of interior Minister Arsen Avakov with the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of internal Affairs of Georgia George Gakharia, according to the website of the Ministry of interior.

“We are interested in the interaction of the criminal police unit. The main problem is the identification of individuals and the rapid exchange of information. We had a situation where long enough we could not obtain information about the detained citizens of Georgia. We understand that this is a crime boss, but had no confirmation from the Georgian side. Another problem is cooperation between departments in the “thieves in law”, – said Avakov.

The first Deputy head of the National police Vyacheslav Abroskin reported that the interior Ministry initiates the creation of a intergovernmental working group to combat organized crime and “thieves in law”.

“We are worried about organized crime and “thieves in law”, which mainly come from Georgia. We propose to establish a joint working group from among officers of the criminal police for collaboration, rapid exchange of information so we can respond quickly to threats. The contact group will be created between the four countries (Ukraine-Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia,” – said Abroskin.

Separately at the meeting also discussed the issue of combating drug-related crime.

“Our state can not pay attention to the ramifications of the Caucasus supply route of heroin. In recent times, the global community confronts. And in this context it is also important to establish cooperation between our countries. Now I understand that if necessary, we will contact you for joint operations”, – noted the chief of Department of counteraction of narcocrime Andrew Kikhtenko.

The Minister of internal Affairs of Georgia Gajaria said that the Georgian side is ready to fruitful cooperation in all areas.
