The Ukrainian foreign Ministry urges expansion of economic and personal sanctions against Russia for issuing passports to residents of the “LDNR”

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin sent a letter to the foreign partners of Ukraine with a request to extend sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the issuance of Russian passports to residents of Donbass. This was during the briefing said the press-Secretary of the Ministry of foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zelenko, RBC-Ukraine online reports.

“I brought the document. This is a letter from the Minister of foreign Affairs Pavel Klimkin the foreign Ministers of the EU, NATO, the group of seven and other countries partners,” said Zelenko.

The press Secretary noted that the document refers to the presentation of the Ukrainian position regarding the illegal passportization in the occupied territories.

“The key point that this letter Ukraine formally calls on the partners to the expansion of the sanctions track international response to Russian aggression due to the inclusion of “passport case,” said Zelenko.

So, Ukraine requires the expansion of economic and personal sanctions against Russia.

“We rely on clear and consistent support from the international community, a failure to recognize those passports that will be issued to citizens of Ukraine in violation of international law and Ukrainian legislation. We will require that extended economic and personal sanctions in response to illegal actions of the Kremlin”, – she added.

We will remind, on April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on simplified obtaining Russian passports to the residents of certain districts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine.

Putin explained that the decision to provide a simplified procedure citizenship of the Russian Federation Ukrainian residents of Donbass is of a purely humanitarian nature, “because the situation can no longer be tolerated”.

The foreign Ministry of Ukraine said that Kiev does not recognize the laws on simplified granting Russian citizenship to Ukrainians.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons Yury Grymchak said that Ukraine will be able to identify the citizens who have Russian passports. Earlier he said that the residents of Donbass, who will receive a Russian passport, you need to deprive the Ukrainian and foreign passports of Ukraine.
