In the period from 1 July to 25 August 2019 wheat imports by EU countries increased by 11%

Ukraine increased exports of soft wheat to the EU more than six times compared to last year.

As of late August, Ukraine increased the export of soft wheat to the EU more than 6 times compared to the same period last year, with 29.7 thousand tons to of 188.8 thousand tons. It is reported by UkrAgroConsult.

It is noted that this allowed Ukraine to become the main supplier of soft wheat to the EU with a share of 42% in total imports.

At the same time the volume of purchases of wheat from Russia decreased to 42.4 thousand tons, and the share of Russian wheat in total imports declined from 32% a year earlier to nearly 10%.

During the period from 1 July to 25 August 2019 wheat imports by EU countries increased by 11% to 448 thousand tons.

Naponmim, at the end of 2018, the gross grain harvest in Ukraine amounted to approximately 70.1 million tons compared to 62 million tons last year.
