Ukraine buys agri-food products mainly from the EU

Least of all agricultural products of Ukraine purchased from CIS for $100 million.

For the first nine months of this year Ukraine imported agricultural products of $3.2 billion. this was announced by Deputy Director of the National scientific center Institute of agrarian Economics Nikolai Pugachev, according to the website of the NSC.

Import in January-September this year increased compared to the same indicators in 2016 by $200 million mainly due to increase of deliveries from EU countries.

“Traditionally, Ukraine buys abroad fish and crustaceans, tobacco products, fruits and nuts various food products, sunflower seeds, cocoa products and chocolate, coffee and tea, palm oil, residues and waste and ethanol”, – said Pugachev.

According to him, these products account for more than 55% of the value of total agricultural imports to Ukraine.

Pugachev also said that the import of agricultural products to Ukraine is carried out mainly from EU countries. In January-September of the current year Ukraine purchased in this region almost 50% of all agricultural and food products for $1.58 billion

The volume of supply from Asia amounted to $626 million, Latin America – $282 million, from Africa – $167 million imports from the US amounted to $145 million.

The smallest volumes of agricultural products Ukraine purchased from CIS for $100 million.

As reported Корреспондент.netin the first half of 2017, the export of Ukrainian goods and services to the EU market increased by 25%. But for five months of 2017, the total export of Ukrainian goods amounted to $17.2 billion, which is 25.9% more as compared with the same period of 2016.
