Ukraine dropped in the ranking of world steel producers

Ukraine reduced steel production by 11.6%.

Ukraine in January-September 2017 has reduced steel production compared to the same period in 2016 by 11.6% to 16,138 million tons, having fallen with 12-go on 13-e a place in the world ranking of steel producers. On Tuesday, October 24, UNIAN reports, citing data from the world steel Association.

It is noted that in September, the leadership in the ranking of world steel producers traditionally have kept China with an index of 71.8 million tonnes (an increase of 5.3% compared to September 2016).

Next countries in the top ten ranking in the following order: Japan (8.6 million tons, +2%), India (8.2 million tons, up 1.9%), USA (6.7 million tonnes, +8.6 per cent), Russia (6 million tons, +5.8 percent), South Korea (5.9 million tons, +2.8%) and Germany (3.5 million tonnes +8.1 per cent), Turkey (3 million tons, +13%), Brazil (2,96 million tons, +7,6%) and Iran (or 2.23 million tons, +40,4%).

Overall in September 2017, compared with September last year, 67 countries included in the rating WSA, steel production increased by 5.6% to 141,4 million tons.

According to the Association report, January-September, the position of the leader continues to hold the China – 638,7 million tons (an increase compared to the same period in 2016, 6.3%). This is followed by Japan (78.3 mln tonnes, -0,2%), India (75,3 million tons, +5,7%), USA (61,5 million tons, +3.1 percent), Russia (54.2 million tons, +2.8%) and South Korea (52,8 million tons, +3.5 percent), Germany (32.9 million tons, +2,7%), Turkey (27.7 million tons, +13,5%), Brazil (25.5 million tonnes, +9.1%) and Italy (17.8 million tonnes, +2.5 percent).

We will remind, in June 2017 Ukraine produced 1.59 million tons of steel, which became the 14th largest in the world.
