Personal sanctions apply for a period of five years to individuals in Guinea-Bissau and South Sudan. The decree of Peter Poroshenko come into force from the day of their publication.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko enacted the decision of the Council of national security and defense Council (NSDC) regarding the use of personal special economic and other sanctions on Guinea-Bissau and South Sudan.

The texts of the relevant decrees published on the website of the head of state on Saturday, March 17.

“To enact the decision of national security Council and defense of Ukraine of March 17, 2018 On the use of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) according to the resolutions of the Security Council of the United Nations No. 2048 (2012) concerning the Republic of Guinea-Bissau”, – stated in the decree No. 70/2018.

As noted in the NSDC decision, personal sanctions were applied for a period of five years to individuals in accordance with the Annex to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of November 15, 2017 No. 822-R.

Other decree No. 71/2018 the President enacted the NSDC decision of March 17, 2018 On the use of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) according to the UN security Council resolution No. 2206 (2015) regarding South Sudan.

They are also used for five years to individuals in accordance with the Annex to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of December 13, 2017 No. 907-R.

The decrees enter into force from the day of their publication.

Earlier, Ukraine called for increased international sanctions against Russia because of the election of the President of the Russian Federation in the Crimea.
