Ukraine has sharply increased the volumes of gas purchases

In January-August 2019 in underground storage facilities was pumped 9.6 billion cubic meters of gas. This is a third more than during the same period of 2018.

Ukraine in eight months of 2019 imported 9.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas. It is 40% more compared to the same period last year, according to Ukrtransgaz on Thursday, September 12.

“As of September 1 (the fourth summer) Ukraine has for 1385 days does not import gas for its needs from Russia. During this period, the volumes of gas came exclusively from EU countries”, – stated in the message.

So, from Slovakia received 6 billion cubic meters of gas (+40%), from Hungary – 2.7 billion cubic meters (+28%), from Poland – 900 million cubic meters (+85%).

In January-August 2019 in underground storage facilities was pumped 9.6 billion cubic meters of gas, which is more by 33% than for the same period of 2018, and a selection from underground storages amounted to 5.1 billion cubic meters of gas, a decrease of 29%. As at 31 August 2019 in UGS Ukraine were 18.3 billion cubic meters of gas. This is 25% more than a year ago.

The volumes of gas transit through the territory of Ukraine from Russia to European countries and Moldova since the beginning of the year amount to 59.5 billion cubic meters compared with the same period in 2018, the transit volume increased by 1.3 billion cubic meters, or 2%.

The introduction of natural gas in the GTS from gas producing enterprises of Ukraine since the beginning of the year and as at 1 September 2019 compared to the previous year increased by 1% to 13.9 billion cubic meters.

We will remind, as of September 11, the volume of gas in underground storage facilities exceeded 19 billion cubic meters. This year Ukraine needs to upload to store an extra 3 billion cubic meters of gas. The beginning of the heating season in underground storage facilities should have 20 billion cubic meters.

It was also reported that in August the customs price of imported gas for Ukraine decreased by 5.5% to 178,3 USD per thousand cubic meters.
