Ukraine has reduced the consumption of anthracite nearly 5 million tons

Consumption of anthracite coal was reduced due to technical re-equipment of seven power units of thermal power plants.

For the 2018 Ukrainian energy reduced consumption of scarce anthracite coal at 4.8 million tons, or 54%. This is stated in the government report, published on the Government portal.

“At 4.8 million tons, or 54%, reduced consumption of scarce anthracite coal due to: the introduction into service of the 3rd hydraulic unit of the Dniester PSPP, the commissioning of OHL 750 kV Rivne NPP – SS Kyivska, technical re-equipment 7 power units in the years 2016-2018” – said in the report.

Also 3.3 million tonnes replaced by coal, which is mined in Ukraine.

We will remind, over 11 months of 2018 year, Ukraine increased its imports of coal and of anthracite coal nearly 10% compared to the same period in 2017 up to 19 million 95 thousand tons. Costs for the purchase of coal reached $ 2.7 billion. The share of Russia in imports amounted to almost 62%.

Own coal production for the year fell by 10% to 33.29 million tons.
