Today Ukraine honors memory of victims of political repression

Today in Ukraine the Day of memory of victims of political repression. Day dedicated to the tragic events in the history of the country, caused by the forced implementation of the Communist ideology.

Ukraine remembers and honors the memory of the innocent victims of political repression, the dust of which rests in each oblast of the Ukrainian land. This was written by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in Facebook may 19 – memorial Day of victims of political repression.

“Today Ukraine honors memory of victims of political repression. In every region, in every district of the Ukrainian land rest the ashes of innocent victims. She keeps the terrible truth and tries to heal the searing pain of his people. Ukraine remembers…” – said the head of state.

Note that the Day of memory of victims of political repressions is celebrated according to the Decree of the President dated 21 may 2007, annually on the third Sunday of may, with the aim of honoring the memory of victims of political repression, attraction of public attention to the tragic events in Ukraine’s history, caused by the violent implementation of the Communist ideology.

We will remind, Vladimir Zelensky at the meeting with heads of fractions of Parliament on Saturday, 4 may, suggested that the date of inauguration on may 19.

In response, the head of the Institute of national memory Vladimir vyatrovich reminded that it is a Day of remembrance of victims of political repression, in connection with, the appointment of the inauguration on may 19 called inappropriate.
