Domestic producers during the first 11 months of the current marketing year was supplied to foreign markets 538 thousand tons of sugar.
Ukraine in July of the current marketing year (2017/2018 MG, September-August) exported 36.7 thousand tons of sugar, which is 46% less than in the previous month. It is reported by the national Association of sugar producers Ukrtsukor Thursday, August 9.
“The main supply of sugar in July was carried out in Uzbekistan – 89%. Also, a small shipment was in Moldova 4% Azerbaijan 3% and Tajikistan – 2%”, – said the head of the analytical Department of the Association Ruslan Butylo.
According to her, despite the adverse conjuncture of the world market, domestic producers during the first 11 months of the current MG was supplied to foreign markets 538 thousand tons of sugar.
“And while it is 26% less compared to last year, note that world prices have fallen almost by half, and the overproduction of sugar in the world is estimated at 7.9 million tonnes. Even under these conditions, manufacturers have fulfilled all international obligations and withdrew excess sugar from the domestic market,” added the Association.
Recall that last year, sugar production in Ukraine grew by 6.5% and amounted to 2.14 million tons. This year the acreage under sugar beet amounted to 280 thousand hectares, which is 13% less than last year.
Sugar exports from Ukraine for the 2016/2017 marketing year amounted to 769,3 thousand tons, 6.8% higher than a year earlier (112,96 thousand tons). This is a record amount of sugar for all the years of independence.
