Ukraine continues preparation of the sixth lawsuit against Russia in the ECHR

The sixth lawsuit against Russia in the ECHR will be filed in early 2017.

Ukraine continues preparation of the sixth lawsuit against Russia in the European court of human rights concerning the events in the Donbas and in the Crimea in 2015-2016, the complaint will be filed early next year. This was announced by first Deputy justice Minister Natalia Sevostyanova, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

“The sixth claim in the ECHR has not yet been filed, we are still in the preparation stage, gather all the information. I think that early next year the sixth claim will be filed,” she said.

According to the official, the Ministry of justice when drafting the claim, “writes the chronology of events.”

“The court may decide to divide the document into two parts (in the Donbas and the Crimea – ed),” said Sevostyanova.

She explained that the lack of haste with filing another claim is illustrated by the fact that Ukraine has focused on the first two claims in the ECHR, which the court began to consider.

“It is very important for us to show the qualitative position of the first and second claims for which work has begun, the court began to consider them. A priority for us to prepare materials that in the early stages to defend all positions,” said Sevostianova.
